Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in Pregnancy

Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common neuropathy involving single nerve that is median nerve in pregnancy

Pregnant women will complain of burning, numbness or tingling along the inner half of one or both hands

She may have wrist pain.

Numbness can extend into the forearm.

Symptoms are bilateral in 80% of pregnant women

Symptomatic treatment with a splint applied in slightly flexed position of wrist, at night provides some relief as it relieves pressure.

Surgical decompression and corticosteroid Injection or sometimes necessary.
